::23.8.04:: Scary, scary, scary!

the violets are harsh critics

My novel pitching competiton is on in 2 days time. I'm a nervous wreck. I've been practicing today. I pitched my novel to the seagulls at the historic seaport of Williamstown. They loved it but we came to grief over the contract. Seagulls must learn that royalty payments can't be made chips and bread crusts.

I pitched it to the back garden. The nasturiums loved it but the violets were a bit iffy about it.

I pitched it to the kitchen appliances. The toaster was non-committal.

Tomorrow I think I'll try it on real live people.

So anyway if you want to come along (or just cyber-stalk me), then the number for tickets is 9685 5111. It costs $15 and is at the CUB Malthouse. Banners, Mexican waves and intense cheering is encouraged.. for me, not the other contestants!

Comments:

I pitch my little efforts to the girls here (two twenty-five year olds). They laugh, but that could mean anything. I like your devotion to it all. Good luck with your performance.

hi there jazzy-girl!
i will endeavour to be there tomorrow night. i've been through a pitching comp at the writers fest - back in 2001 - and one thing i will say is, it was a heap of fun! so remember, just have a good time with it. remember to breathe, remember to relax, and above all, enjoy the experience. it will rock! you will rock. all will be excellent! good vibes by the truckload from me to you!
